Position Summary | The STARLab at Central Michigan University is seeking a full-time Research Associate to participate in geochemical research on a project involving experimental synthesis of Mo, V, and Se interactions with iron sulfide (pyrite) under different redox conditions. This work requires the use of advanced analytical instrumentation including ICP-MIS, IC-ICP-MS, MC-ICP-MS, and LA-ICP-MS in the CMU Center for Advanced Research & Technology (CART) facility, and will involve XAFS synchrotron beam time at external sites. Accordingly, experience with analytical instrumentation and analysis and molecular and/or trace element geochemistry is required. The appointment is for 12 months (renewable based on satisfactory performance and funding availability) and will be located on the main campus of Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, USA. |

About the Department | The Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, housed in the College of Science and Engineering, offers B.S. degrees in Geology, Environmental Science, and Meteorology and participates in an interdisciplinary doctoral program in Earth and Ecosystems Science. EAS faculty research includes geochemistry, geophysics, earth surface processes, hydrogeology, meteorology, climatology, and environmental modeling.
