AAMU offers its 6,100-student population a wide range of course offerings under the College of Agriculture, Life and Natural Sciences; College of Business and Public Affairs; College of Education, Humanities and Behavioral Sciences and College of Engineering, Technology and Physical Science. The School of Graduate Studies serves about 1,400 and offers doctoral degree programs in Applied Physics, Food Science, Plant/Soil Science and Reading/Literacy.


Job Description:

Alabama A&M University is seeking a temporary postdoctoral team member to work in the Nonlinear Dynamics Research Laboratory. This position is a full-time, fiscal year appointment, and the start date is flexible. The successful candidate will work closely with the Laboratory Director on a project whose goal it is to develop a general framework and theory for the rigorous mathematical treatment of a certain class of artificial neural networks endowed with general distributed time delays. Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Conduct high quality research on the subject matter of the project.
  • Publish research outcomes in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prepare and present the research outcomes at conferences.
  • Perform other research-related duties as assigned by the laboratory director.


Requirements:

Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in mathematics or applied mathematics by the time of appointment.
A minimum of four years' experience working with retarded functional differential equations and other types of nonlinear dynamical systems.
Strong scientific programming skills in C, C++, C#, Python, or MATLAB are required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Full professional proficiency in verbal and written English.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to clearly present and publish research outcomes.

The salary for each position is based on the grade/tier in which the position is placed, and the salary within the grade/tier is based on the number of years of related experience or number of years in the hiring rank.
