Full Job Description

SUMMARY: The Director of the Foundation and Communications works collaboratively with the agency CEO and foundation board chair focusing on the cultivation of donor relations, fundraising initiatives, internal and external communications, grant writing, and public and community relations. This position will be responsible for establishing and implementing strategies and goals to support organizational priorities. Actively participate in fundraising events and maintain a dynamic community and public relations presence. The Director of Foundation and Communications is a self-motivated, deadline driven professional, with exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills who is dedicated to Lifetime's mission.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in strategic development and fundraising for a human service non-profit organization.
  • Experience with individual, corporate and foundation gift solicitations, and meeting fundraising goals and development of creative and effective supporting materials.
  • Proven experience in result-oriented marketing communications including emerging tactics that can effectively support development objectives and achieve goals.
  • Experience managing volunteers, interns, consultants, and support staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as journalism, public relations, or communications.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and verbal presentation communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and proofreading skill.
  • Proven results in implementing marketing and communications strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while managing deadlines.
  • Experience is using CRM fundraising software and accessing data/reports.
  • Commitment to our mission of supporting people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree; 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in communication and/or marketing, preferable in a non-profit organization. Experience in development, supervisory experience; background in estate planning beneficial.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, procedures, and regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from service recipients, their families, employees, other service providers and the public in person, in writing and by phone.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of options in situations where only limited instructions exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, or oral form. Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel and to manipulate keys and a keyboard. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. May be required to lift to 35 pounds.
