Job Description
 

A postdoctoral research scholar position is available in the Crop Physiology Lab in the Division of Plant Science and Technology at the University of Missouri (https://pst.missouri.edu/ ; https://ipg.missouri.edu/).

The postdoctoral scholar will join an interdisciplinary team investigating plant adaptation to changing environmental conditions and crop resource use efficiency. Specifically, the primary responsibility of the incumbent will be to study the genetics underpinning phosphorus uptake and phosphorus use efficiency in soybean leveraging biparental mapping populations and diversity panels. The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day activities associated with experiments, will be able to build on an abundance of phenotypic data and genetic resources, and will have access to unique field and controlled environment facilities. The incumbent will be expected to design and execute experiments, analyze data, present results at professional meetings, and prepare manuscripts for publication in appropriate refereed journals. The incumbent will gain experience with collaborative research and will have opportunities to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.


Qualifications
 

Minimum Qualifications:  PhD in plant genetic, genomics, physiology or related fields by the time of appointment.

Candidates will be evaluated on:  Experience in genetic mapping using biparental populations and diversity panels. Self-motivation, dedication, and experience in both independent research and collaboration in a diverse, multi-disciplinary team. Strong experimental design and written and oral communication skills are essential.
