Job Description
 

The Nguyen lab at the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine is looking for a talented postdoc to join our team. Interested candidates must have a PhD or MD/PhD in genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, or a related field. The candidates are expected to establish independent research projects and to generate high impact publications, which should provide the postdoctoral fellows with an excellent opportunity for further career development in academia or pharmaceutical companies.
Our lab uses state-of-the-art molecular and cellular approaches, including in vivo and in vitro biochemical assays, CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, transcriptomic and proteomic technologies, and transformative artificial intelligence (AI) called AlphaFold tool to solve basic questions in medicine/biology that have immediate clinical relevance. Currently, our research group aims to (1) explore the molecular mechanisms and regulation of the CRL4CRBN-USP15 pathway in cancer, (2) discover the molecular mechanisms regulating the destruction of pathogenic proteins in neurodegenerative diseases: Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), (3) develop specific and selective inhibitors  for ubiquitin enzymes (600 E3 ubiquitin ligases and ~100 DUBs), and (4) develop the molecular glue and PROTAC degraders to treat deadly human diseases.
