This is a 12-month, full-time, classified position, scheduled to work 40 hours per week.

Salary Placement: The position will be placed on Salary Schedule B with a pay range of $97,017-$133,982, depending upon degree and applicable work experience at the President's discretion. (Note: This pay range is subject to final approval of the 2022-2023 Salary Schedules by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees.)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Function: The Dean of Student Services administers a wide range of student services functions, including admissions, testing and placement, orientation, registrar, Center for College Success, College and Career Planning Center, dual enrollment, scholarships, student activities, retention, career advising, financial aid, reverse transfer, and advising. The Dean of Student Services must comply with all policies of the Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Supervise the College’s Admissions process including supervising the maintenance and security of student files, transcripts, and test scores
  • Oversee student, parent, and scholarship orientations
  • Serve as the Banner Student Functional Lead
  • Serve as the College Registrar, overseeing all functions of the Registrar’s Office
  • Oversee the submission of the National Student Clearinghouse
  • Oversee student placement testing
  • Oversee advising processes offered through the Office of the Director of Advising
  • Oversee financial aid programs
  • Oversee the Center for College Success, including tutoring services
  • Serve as the Chair of the Scholarship Committee and supervise College scholarships
  • Assist in finalizing the school calendar by scheduling online registration, early registration, and orientations
  • Supervise campus organizations, clubs, and student activities
  • Oversee the dual enrollment program, working closely with area high schools
  • Serve as the liaison concerning student disciplinary procedures
  • Serve as a Title IX investigator
  • Serve as STARS/AGSC Articulation Officer
  • Supervise the college call campaign initiatives
  • Oversee the evaluation of transfer-in credit, advanced placement credit, and non-traditional credit policies
  • Serve as an international student advisor including managing the SEVIS records according to the Department of Homeland Security Regulations
  • Supervise personnel in Admissions, Financial Aid, Center for College Success, College and Career Planning Center, Director of Advising, Registrar’s Office, Dual Enrollment, and Reverse Transfer
  • Oversee the implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act
  • Oversee the enforcement of Family Education Rights and Privacy (FERPA) guidelines
  • Coordinate the All USA/All-Alabama Academic Program
  • Oversee the maintenance of DegreeWorks
  • Prepare the budget for Student Services
  • Submit the annual unit goals for the Admissions Office, and coordinate with department directors regarding their unit goal submissions to ensure adherence to institutional mission and directive goals
  • Oversee the compilation of documentation for subpoenas
  • Serve on institutional committees as assigned
  • Participate in the Alabama Deans of Student Affairs Association (ADSAA)
  • Comply with all policies of the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, the Alabama Community College System, and Northeast Alabama Community College
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the President
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of established policies and procedures of the College
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to present material in an understandable manner
  • Ability to communicate with students from a variety of backgrounds
  • Experience in assessment placement testing
  • Experience in supervising developmental studies activities
  • Experience in dual enrollment/accelerated student programs
  • Experience in educational advisement of students
  • Knowledge of Alabama Community College System Policy pertaining to Financial Aid, Admissions, and Student Rights and Responsibilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local, state, and federal agencies, other colleges, other departments of the College, faculty, staff, students, and the College community.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the community college mission.
Minimum Required Education, Training and/or Experience:
1. A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution is required
2. Experience at a community college is required
3. Experience in student services is preferred
4. Three years of supervisory experience is optional

Applications for the position will be reviewed to determine (1) if they are complete and (2) if the applicant meets the minimum qualifications required of the position. Interviews are then scheduled at the President’s discretion and will be conducted via a web-interface such as Zoom, Skype, or Microsoft Teams. Applicants will be required to participate in an interview at their own expense. Official transcripts will be required of the finalist chosen for employment by the President.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Criminal Background Checks - In accordance with Alabama Community College System policy and procedures, the applicant chosen for employment will be required to sign a consent form for a criminal background check. Employment will be contingent upon the receipt of a clearance notification from the criminal background check.
