Salary Range: $60,000-$70,000

The YMCA of Greater Brandywine (YGBW), an association of eight YMCAs serving Chester County, is a non-profit organization committed to nurturing the potential of every child, promoting healthy living and fostering social responsibility through life-changing programs for all.


Position Purpose:
The YMCA of Greater Brandywine is seeking an organized and detail-oriented grant writer with excellent writing skills to join a team of passionate and committed Mission Advancement professionals who raise funds to meet the needs of our community. The Grant Management Director supports the work of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine as a leading non-profit, charitable organization committed to strengthening our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Grant Management Director has an important role to support the Y’s philanthropic endeavors and steward the Y’s cause.

The Grant Management Director will be responsible for every aspect of the grant development and proposal process from research, identifying new sources of funding, preparation and submission to reporting and tracking. The Director will manage the schedule of grant applications and assure timely submission, and be responsible for careful and detailed post-award management. It will be imperative that this position work with the development team (and will always be supported by the CDO), program staff, finance department and senior leadership to track and gather information necessary to report to funders. Stewardship is what our Mission Advancement team strives to do, every day, and communicating the impact of the gift is very important to the continued success of our fundraising efforts. This role will help to optimize organizational capacity through data monitoring, evaluation, and analysis and to inform program planning and to tell the YGBW story to funders, potential funders and the community.


Responsibilities:
1. Researches potential funders, (e.g., Y-USA, foundations – personal/private/family, corporations and government/municipal) and builds strong, strategic relationships with current and prospective partners inside and outside the Y.

2. Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y’s impact for all stakeholders (e.g., staff, volunteers, members, community leaders) and develops grant proposals to help fund the Y’s programs that align with our mission and strategic plan.

3. Maintains an efficient and effective tracking and reporting system that supports the financial development efforts of the Y.

4. Establishes and manages a comprehensive process for timely and accurate grant evaluation, quality compliance, project and
program fulfillment.

5. Reports the sources, uses, and management of donated funds to constituents to preserve and enhance confidence in the organization.

6. Manages and implements an organized system of communications internally and externally to provide stewardship to donors regarding grant awards and the management and monitoring of the funders’ requirements for recognition.

7. Meets with potential funders/grantors as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field or equivalent education/experience.
  • Four to five years of successful experience in grant management or equivalent experience. Knowledge of writing regional, state and federal grants is highly appreciated.
  • Experience in a nonprofit environment.
  • Successful track record in applying proven practices related to developing successful grant proposals, working with institutional donors, and the management of all related grant compliance and reporting practices.
  • Knowledge/clear understanding of fundraising techniques and strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, particularly the ability to read, analyze, write, and edit reports according to prescribed style/format and correspond with external businesses and community members.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, volunteers, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to meet deadlines, as well as the ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, reason and solve problems.
  • Ability to develop and use spreadsheets and standard business software systems.
