This role will be key in generating foundation/corporate/individual gifts which meet financial development objectives of Y-USA.
Job Description

The EVP Chief Development Officer is the key liaison for Y-USA philanthropic and strategic partnership development activities including corporate and government funding partners. This position provides leadership to and management of movement wide efforts to enhance YMCA development capacity.

Working with the CEO, the YMCA of the USA National Board of Directors, leadership teams and other key leaders, the incumbent spearheads the development of a strategic plan for financial development for Y-USA. This position serves as the key strategist for Y-USA philanthropic and financial development activities.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 15 years of development experience in a large comprehensive development office required.
  • Ten or more years of supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated record of success in generating and managing significant commitments/gifts from corporations and foundations.
  • Demonstrated record of success in generating and managing significant commitments/gifts from high net-worth individuals.
  • Demonstrated understanding of government funding partners and relationship building
  • Knowledge and understanding of prospect / donor management systems.
  • A strategic thinker with ability to build the vision for a progressive philanthropy model
  • Ability to synthesize complex capital and programmatic initiatives.
  • Superior interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  • Must understand and secure highly confidential donor related information
  • Ability to represent Y-USA and the respective department confidently and professionally with high-level national and international corporate, foundation and individual donors, volunteers, and public officials.
  • Commitment to character development values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
  • Ability to motivate and lead member associations in strengthening their development activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others to achieve objectives.

Essential Functions
  • Protect and promote the YMCA brand; Increase stakeholder, partner and donor engagement with Y-USA and the YMCA Movement; Lead the Development Team and achieve annual operating and strategic goals.
  • Working with the Financial Development Committee of the National Board, develop and implement fundraising plans.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with leadership in local YMCAs, especially in the cities where National corporate and foundation donors are headquartered; lead the cross-department team that engages donors and partners for organizational priorities
  • Develop and maintain effective lines of communications to all stakeholders including the National Board, Global DEI team, and Government Relations team.
  • Responsible for fiscal management of the Financial Development budget
  • Create and promote a positive and supportive, inclusive work environment.
