The Department of Pathobiological Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking candidates for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor tenure-track faculty position in the field of Immunology of Infectious Diseases. A preference will be given for individuals at assistant or early-stage associate level.
The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent, extramurally funded, nationally recognized research program. Potential areas of research include host-pathogen interactions in natural hosts or varied animal models with an emphasis on innate or adaptive immune responses, pathogen evasion of immune responses, immunopathology, or immunotherapies including vaccine development and immune-modulation. Minimum requirements include a PhD and at least 2 years of postdoctoral or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
In addition to developing a strong extramurally funded research program, the successful candidate is expected to make significant contributions to departmental and campus professional, undergraduate, and/or graduate teaching programs and to mentor graduate students. Participation in departmental and university service and commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment are expected.

The Department of Pathobiological Sciences is one of four departments within the School of Veterinary Medicine and consists of faculty members with expertise in infectious diseases (immunology, parasitology, bacteriology, virology, vector biology, epidemiology, and public health) and comparative pathology (anatomical and clinical). Faculty within the Department and School train graduate students in the Comparative Biomedical Sciences and other campus graduate programs. They also serve as trainers on a variety of NIH training grants administered through the School and other units on campus. The candidate will participate in the School of Veterinary Medicine's research, teaching, and service programs. Specifically, the individual will be expected to conduct independent extramurally funded research in an area related to immunology of infectious diseases; participate in courses for veterinary medical, undergraduate, or graduate students in relevant disciplines; train graduate students; and provide academic service to the Department, School of Veterinary Medicine, and University. The individual will also be expected to interact with faculty across campus in relevant disciplines.
The approximate distribution of effort will be 70% research, 20% teaching, 10% academic service. Individuals with NIH K awards will commit 75% research effort during the award period.
