Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Training and Consultation Specialist for the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation & Counseling Professions within the School of Health Professions. Under direction, the Senior Training and Consultation Specialist will work alongside faculty members and project staff. They are responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating training and consultation activities related to their assigned project. They will contribute to the implementation of evidence based psychiatric rehabilitation services in both NJ’s community based mental health services and the state psychiatric hospitals.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Develops and delivers educational training programs for 1 or more of the NJ DHS grant funded training and technical assistance projects (Community Support Services, Integrated Employment Institute and State Hospital Psychiatric Rehabilitation Initiative).
  • Provides consultation and technical assistance to administrators, supervisors, clinicians and direct care staff.
  • Contributes to and prepares reports related to the degree of success in achieving program outcomes.
  • Maintains a high level of knowledge and expertise in topics related to mental health workforce development and multiple areas of evidence-based or empirically supported mental health interventions.
  • Contributes to the preparation of scholarly manuscripts and presentations.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s degree in a related field, plus 2 years of experience in behavioral health providing or supervising rehabilitation-oriented services and coordinating adult-directed training or educational programs (and/or consulting with mental health providers on their training needs) – or a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and three (3) years of experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of adults diagnosed with serious mental health conditions and expertise in at least two areas of evidence-based practice in psychiatric rehabilitation, including wellness and recovery-oriented intervention models, supported housing, supported employment, supported education, and trauma informed care.
  • Technical skills are also required to develop and deliver web-based training and assess training outcomes using survey software.
  • In addition, strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills.
