minimum $48,421.00, midpoint $66,269.00, maximum $85,798.00

Preferred Qualifications
  • More than 5 years biomedical laboratory research experience with a preference toward candidates with a background in infectious disease research
  • Documented experience in BSL-3 biocontainment research
  • Documented experience working with animal models of infectious diseases
  • Authorship of publications in the peer-reviewed literature
Position Description

The Research Scientist will function as a key member of the core research team at the Regional Biocontainment Laboratory and will primarily be responsible for design and execution of in vivo research studies in models of infectious diseases.  The position requires a self-motivated, talented researcher, preferably with relevant laboratory experience in a BSL-3 biocontainment laboratory environment.  The Research Scientist is a senior member of the research team who, in addition to responsibility for design and execution of sophisticated biomedical research projects also has responsibility for training and supervision of students, postdoctoral fellows and research technicians to achieve proficiency in high containment research practices.  The scientist must have expert-level skills in biomedical laboratory research and must be prepared to work a flexible schedule, sometimes after hours and on the weekends.  

  • Design and execute in vitro and in vivo infectious disease research experiments in BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories
  • Analyze research data using appropriate analytical methods
  • Prepare data for publication and draft research papers and technical reports
  • Train and supervise research technologists, students, and post-doctoral trainees in the research team
  • Review and revise laboratory policies and procedures
  • Ensure laboratory research compliance CPM, University, City, State, and Federal regulations
  • Perform research and administrative tasks as assigned by the CPM Director, Director of Shared Resources, and/or Associate Director Research Services
  • Ability to work flexible hours outside of the normal workday, and occasionally on weekends and holidays when required.
