Position Summary:
Villanova University’s Department of Biology invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position, beginning August 2023. Research in the Department ranges from molecules to ecosystems, and we embrace diverse approaches. We encourage applications from geneticists who work in any one of a variety of disciplines. Our new colleague will establish a productive research program, integrate undergraduate and graduate students in their research, actively seek extramural funding, and contribute to the vibrant curriculum of the department at both the undergraduate and graduate (Master’s) levels. In addition to pursuing an outstanding research program, the successful candidate will be expected to provide effective instruction and advising to a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students. The candidate will teach an undergraduate genetics course and courses in their specialty. We seek candidates whose research, teaching and/or service has prepared them to contribute to our department’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Applicants should have a Ph.D. and post-doctoral experience. Review of applications will begin 2 September 2022 and will continue until position filled.

Duties and Responsibilities:
In addition to maintaining an active research agenda leading to publication, our new colleague will teach undergraduate/graduate courses that include, their area of expertise, as well as other departmental courses in a way that fosters connections across the discipline and the Villanova community.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD is required as well as outstanding research potential and excellence in teaching.
  • Postdoctoral experience and/or teaching experience
