Essential Duties:

This is a two-year grant funded position. This position provides assistance to research faculty and staff by collecting and analyzing data, conducting neuropsychological tests, keeping records, conducting literature and technical research, and preparing reports, specifically for the two-year research project titled: Reliability, Validity, Normative Data and Accuracy of SWAY Mobile Application Assessments in Health Adults with Mild and Cognitive Impairment and Dementia. 

An overview of duties is as follows:

  • Assist with recruitment for the study
  • Administers all screening assessments, SWAY tests, traditional neurocognitive tests, and relevant health assessment surveys.
  • Provide weekly summaries of total test participants seen.
  • Collects various forms of data pertaining to the research project including participation in clinical research projects, collecting data from patients, and/or participants in a study
  • May conduct descriptive analyses to summarize data
  • Interprets, draws conclusions, and discusses with principal investigator
  • Participates in meetings, and presents research material and findings to fellow researchers and colleagues
  • Keeps record of information obtained during research and scholarly activity, including maintaining information via a database and hard files, such as a research binder. May include a database of information or hard files
  • Conducts research of the literature
  • May support preparation, submission, and management of research proposals, projects, grants, and contracts which are reviewed, approved, and managed by the Office of Research Administration, Institutional Review Board, and Grants and Contracts Accounting
  • Prepares various reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content that may be submitted for publication
  • Constructs data collection instruments, e.g., surveys, or assists in their construction
  • Collaborates with other researchers
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position, e.g., organizing research and scholarly activity presentation events

Qualifications:

 

Working Conditions:

  • Physical: Standing for long periods of time. Manual dexterity. Stooping, bending, reaching, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Environmental: Exposure to blood borne pathogens, carcinogens, and chemicals.

 

Experience:

  • Required: 60 months research specialty experience.
  • Preferred: 12 months of supervisory experience.

 

Education:

  • Required: Master's Degree in a Biological Science, Physical Science, Chemistry, or related field.
  • Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept a Ph.D. plus 36 months experience as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

 

Skills & Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of IRB and human research subject processes and protocols.
  • Detail oriented, organized, responsible, conscientious
  • Ability to analyze data, create data reports, and keep records, including using Excel and SPSS (or equivalent program) for basic statistical analysis and reporting.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
