Job Summary

We seek a highly motivated and driven Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to develop and or apply advanced statistical models in social or environmental epidemiology studies, including those quantifying neighborhood health effects, spatial variation of policy effects, and using big spatial data. The candidate is expected to conduct their work relatively independently and to author publication in biostatistics, applied statistics, epidemiology, or environmental health journals. The candidate will participate in professional development activities such as research group management and grant writing, among others. The candidate will work primarily with Dr. Brisa Sanchez and have the opportunity for mentorship and collaboration with other biostatistics faculty at Drexel and other scientists at Drexel’s Urban Health Collaborative.

Essential Functions

  • Development, implementation and/or evaluation of advanced modeling techniques for social or environmental epidemiology
  • Write papers as lead author
  • Conduct data analysis and participate as co-author in related publications
  • Assist with supervision of graduate students or MS-level statisticians
  • Actively participate in collaborative research meetings and present study findings at scientific meetings

Required Qualifications

  • PhD or Doctorate in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Econometrics, or related quantitative field
  • 1 year of Experience
  • Proficiency in R programming, including development of R packages
  • Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using GitHub
  • Experience using high-performance computing cluster environments
  • Experience with large datasets
  • Experience with C++
  • Coursework and/or practical research experience in health disparities, environmental health effects, or structural determinants of health
