- Description
- We are seeking a post-doctoral scientist with experience in genomics to work on a project assessing the role of wildlife in distribution of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in agricultural systems. Specifically, the successful candidate will use DNA extracted from fecal samples collected from five species in the southeastern US to refine methods to identify individuals in wildlife populations (using GT-seq), and to quantify antimicrobial resistant genes (ARGs) and fecal indicator and pathogenic bacteria, to facilitate use of quantitative approaches linking wildlife space use with distribution of AMR and pathogens. The successful candidate will be housed within the Carnivore and Population Ecology Lab at Mississippi State University (https://www.carnivore.fwrc.msstate.edu/index.php) and collaborate with Drs. Dana Morin (MSU), and John Brooks (USDA-ARS).
