Job Summary | The Department of Biology (https://bio.as.uky.edu/) in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY is seeking a postdoctoral scholar to join the Ferguson group (www.jakeferguson.info ) for collaborative work with the Ponciano lab at the University of Florida (https://www.josemiponciano.net/ ). This is a 2-year position with a flexible start date. This position will assist with the development of statistical approaches to study complex animal population dynamics. The successful candidate will participate in the development of statistical theory to estimate potential functions from time series of animal population abundances. These functions provide empirical descriptions of the forces that regulate populations. The candidate will apply this theory to a database of populations that exhibit cycles to better understand whether exogenous or endogenous factors drive population cycles. This project will build on our ongoing work that seeks to understand how plant and animal populations that exhibit complex dynamics respond to environmental fluctuations. A Ph.D. is required. Candidates must have a background in mathematical modeling, statistics, and population ecology. The deadline to apply is July 31, 2022. Applicants should submit a letter of application and curriculum vitae. In addition, please provide the names and contact information for two references when prompted in the academic profile.
