Job Description

The selected candidate will conduct research on robotics and autonomous systems, AI (including machine/deep learning), IoT systems, and machinery systems/management to improve farmworkers’ efficiency in fruit crops production and implement smart farming. The postdoc will support engineering research (including design, fabrication, test and verification of prototype systems), data collection and analytics, and manuscript development. The primary responsibilities are developing AI-driven automated and robotic systems for agricultural applications; designing and implementing research experiments; and assisting other projects in the group to produce research results and develop manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.


Required Qualifications

PhD in Agricultural, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or a related area awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of the appointment with a minimum of one year of eligibility remaining; Previous experience and publications in the area of autonomous systems, mechatronics, machine learning (including deep learning capabilities), and IoT and embedded systems


Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge and skills in computer programming/platforms (e.g., Python, Matlab, C++, computer vision, or ROS); and CAD modeling and fabrication experience; Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
