Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University’s (FAU) Institute for Sensing and Embedded Network Systems Engineering (I-SENSE) invites applications for multiple Postdoctoral Researcher positions. I-SENSE leads university-wide activities in Sensing and Smart Systems, one of FAU’s four research pillars. The institute’s mission is to promote research excellence in Sensing and Smart Systems; and to develop, demonstrate, and operate technological solutions with high societal impact. The mission is led by a robust interdisciplinary team comprising seven staff members, eleven faculty fellows, three postdoctoral researchers, more than 60 affiliated faculty, and more than two dozen research assistants. The team’s work is supported through NSF, NIH, NIST, DOE, NOAA, AFOSR, AFRL, ARO and other partners and agencies.

The Center for Connected Autonomy and AI

FAU’s Center for Connected Autonomy and AI is pioneering research work in connected robotics and networked artificial intelligence with an emphasis on autonomous machine-to-machine communications and multi-domain (underwater/ground/air/space) networked multi-agent learning and operations. The Center is leading fundamental advancements in theory and practice across multiple technical fields, spanning wireless communications, signal processing, artificial neural networks, and data analytics.

The Biomedical Signal and Image Analysis Lab

FAU’s Biomedical Signal and Image Analysis Lab is developing clinically     relevant engineering solutions that benefit global healthcare, developing signal analysis and machine learning algorithms to tackle significant bottlenecks in data analytics for healthcare applications. The lab has a particular focus on developing novel algorithms in deep learning, generative adversarial models, reinforcement learning, and signal processing. 

The Azarderakhsh Lab

The Azarderakhsh Lab is pioneering advancements in cryptography and security, with a focus on cryptographic engineering, side-channel analysis, elliptic curve cryptography, finite field arithmetic, post-quantum cryptography, and hardware/software implementations.

The Pashaie Lab
The Pashaie Lab is leading advancements in the optical interrogation of large-scale neural network dynamics, mostly in brain cortical regions. The lab is leading the implementation of neuroprosthetic devices to extract details of information processing in cortical networks and the nonlinear dynamics of cortical columns – essential in reverse engineering and realizing brain-machine interface mechanisms.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and support research projects associated with the relevant center / laboratory.
  • Lead and support the development of research publications, proposals, reports, and presentations.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate student researchers.
  • Lead and support the management of relevant research facilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent field by the time of application required.
