Summary

The Tervo Lab at HHMI Janelia is looking for a Postdoctoral Associate to lead a project investigating the neural basis of social interaction in rats. The lab combines cutting-edge behavioral assays, electrophysiology, and molecular engineering. Learn more about our work here

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Experimental neuroscience and data analysis of the resulting observations. These data will include animal behavior, electrophysiology, and imaging

Qualifications

Education

  • Ph.D. degree in any STEM discipline

Skills and Abilities

  • Programming, preferentially some familiarity with Python and Matlab

  • Experience working with rodents (optional)

  • Experience with neural recordings (ephys or imaging) or other neural techniques (optional)

  • Ability to work collaboratively

Physical Requirements

Remaining in a normal seated or standing position for extended periods of time; reaching and grasping by extending hand(s) or arm(s); dexterity to manipulate objects with fingers, for example using a keyboard; communication skills using the spoken word; ability to see and hear within normal parameters; ability to move about workspace. The position requires mobility, including the ability to move materials weighing up to several pounds (such as a laptop computer or tablet).
