Job Position Description
Dr. Nielsen Pereira is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on a project funded by the US Department of Education (Jacob K. Javits Gifted and Talented Students Education Program). Project goals are: (1) implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of the multi-tier intervention aiming to provide talent development opportunities in STEM domains and support the socio-emotional needs of gifted students in 5-8 schools; (2) improving teacher knowledge, skills, and perceptions regarding socio-emotional needs and support for talent development for students from populations that have been traditionally underserved in gifted education programs; (3) improving identification and access to opportunities for students from populations that have been traditionally underserved in gifted education programs; (4) increasing student achievement, engagement, motivation, wellbeing, and self-efficacy in STEM, particularly for those students from traditionally underserved populations; and (5) enabling school personnel across the country to implement the intervention through effective dissemination of research, support materials, and professional development training modules.

Job Responsibilities
The Postdoctoral Research Associate will work with the Project Director and his team to: (1) design and conduct professional development training for educators in the partner schools, which will include traveling to the schools and designing online modules; (2) design and train educators to implement the project curricula; (3) assist educators and school personnel in the implementation of the intervention; (4) assist with data collection and analysis; (5) develop project yearly reports and other deliverables (6) identify, plan, and publish original scholarly communication related to the project goals in collaboration with the Project Director and his team.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Education, Educational Psychology, Psychology, Gifted Education, or related area completed by the start of the employment
- Strong research and analytic skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience conducting research and disseminating results
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Ability to work collaboratively with a research team
- Knowledge of gifted education and/or STEM education
- Experience developing or implementing educational interventions in schools or out-of-school programs
- Experience designing and conducting mixed-methods research studies
Additional Information
- Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position
- Remote work is available for this position with the expectation to occasionally travel to schools for data collection and teacher training
Starting Date
Starting date is negotiable, but preferred start is no later than August 15, 2022.
