A postdoctoral position is available in the Horticultural Sciences Department at the University of Florida, Gainesville with a focus on cover crop use in horticultural and agronomic cropping systems. The candidate will assist with the management of multistate, multidisciplinary research projects and engage in field, greenhouse, and laboratory studies to evaluate the effects of cover crops on cash crop growth and yield, soil health, carbon sequestration, and greenhouse gas mitigation. Research will also focus cover crop evaluation for regional adaptation and cover crop suppression of weeds, pests, and plant pathogens. Data analysis and interpretation, presentations at scientific meetings, and report and manuscript preparation, and assistance with grant writing also are required.

The position is available initially for one year and reappointment for additional years is contingent upon performance and availability of funding.

Minimum Requirements:

A PhD in Horticultural Sciences, Agronomy or Soil Science or related discipline and superior organizational, verbal, and written communication skills. Experience with the design and conduct of field experiments. Candidates must be supportive of the mission of the Land-Grant system.  Candidates must also have a commitment to IFAS core values of excellence, diversity, global involvement, and accountability. 

Preferred Qualifications:

General expertise in utilizing cover crops for agroecosystem services and specific expertise in their use for weed management. Proficiency in the use of SAS for data analysis. Project management training and/or experience.
