Executive Director of Technical Programs

Job Description

The Executive Director of Technical Programs position leads, facilitates, and supports KCTCS college faculty and academic leadership in the development and implementation of curriculum for technical programs. Provides thought leadership and guidance in developing new teaching modalities and accelerating time to degree through delivery and support strategies. Supports and encourages the design and delivery of high-quality and innovative for-credit and non-credit technical and workforce training. Provides system level leadership for the implementation and expansion of credit for prior learning, including military credit for prior learning. Provides collaborative leadership to System Office, College Workforce Solutions and Economic Development staff, and external partners to ensure seamless delivery and articulation of technical program scaffolded credentials. This position will also supervise staff.

This is a defined-term contract position renewable each fiscal year and located in Versailles, KY.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

  • Provides leadership and guidance in accelerating time to credential or transfer and employment by supporting flexible programs, credit for prior learning, experiential learning, and other learner supports. Leads implementation and acceleration of credit for prior learning systemwide. Works with the Kentucky Department of Education and the Council on Postsecondary Education to ensure seamless career pathways through high school articulation, dual credit, and other mechanisms.
  • Provides leadership and guidance in the alignment of technical programs with employer needs within the Kentucky Sector Strategies. Aligns technical programs with career pathways, and industry sectors including healthcare, business and information technology, advanced manufacturing, logistics and transportation, and construction and trades. Works with systemwide curriculum committees and administration through research and advising to achieve KCTCS and Kentucky workforce pipeline priorities. Provides leadership and support to faculty in curriculum mapping and alignment processes and practices. Leads and manages the System Office Curriculum Committee Liaison Program.
  • Works with business and industry, the Kentucky Workforce Innovation Board, the Kentucky Chamber, the Kentucky Department of Education, and other partners to align technical programs with workforce needs and serves as the KCTCS liaison and support to KY FAME. Encourages experiential learning opportunities such as apprenticeships and other work-based learning models between curriculum committees and industry.
  • Facilitates the development and delivery of workforce and work-based learning policies, procedures, and resources to meet the needs of faculty and staff in technical programs working with learners to meet the workforce training needs of Kentucky's business and industry.
  • Supports all affiliated initiatives, workgroups, and committees within the System Office and in support of shared governance.
  • Leads and supervises assigned staff and system curriculum committee liaisons.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Technical Education, and/or Workforce Development, Curriculum Design or Adult Learning and five (5) years of relevant experience or equivalent.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Doctoral Degree in Higher Education, Technical Education, and/or Workforce Development, Curriculum Design or Adult Learning and seven (7) years of relevant experience or equivalent.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Should have experience in community college administration, technical program development and/or deployment, and faculty curriculum committees.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with business and industry partners, economic development and Chamber organizations, other technical field organizations, and state government agencies.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, collaborative, relationship builder, understands the role of faculty in curriculum development, provides leadership and support while supporting shared governance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $74,088.00 per year
