Required Qualifications:
Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DVM) in biology, molecular biology, microbiology, or immunology plus previous research experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Dissertation and/or post-doctoral research experience in virology, immunology, microbiology, or reproductive biology.

The Bierle Lab is hiring for a new, NIH-funded research project studying viral pathogenesis in the placenta and during pregnancy. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct experiments using in vitro and in vivo models of placental infection. Duties will include mammalian tissue culture, experimental virology, transcriptome analyses, and immunologic assays. Prior experience with techniques such as flow cytometry, nucleic acid extraction and quantification, western blotting, ELISA, and next generation sequencing is desirable. Proficiency with computers is essential as the use of office software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, and specialized scientific software, including Geneious and GraphPad Prism, will be a part of daily duties. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist with laboratory management and administrative tasks. This position will report to Dr. Craig Bierle of the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases.

70% Experiment design and execution.
15% Data analysis and manuscript preparation.
15% Lab management and administration.
