Job Description
Gilead is a research-based biopharmaceutical company that discovers, develops and commercializes innovative medicines in areas of unmet medical need. With each new discovery and investigational drug candidate, we seek to improve the care of patients living with life-threatening diseases around the world. We are actively seeking candidates for the inaugural class of our new Postdoctoral Scholar Program in Gilead Research. This is an opportunity to conduct cutting-edge independent research at a highly innovative company. We welcome all qualified candidates to apply!
Description:
This joint postdoctoral position in the laboratories of Jackson Egen and Nathan Thomsen provides a unique opportunity for independent research at the interface of immuno-oncology and protein engineering. The successful candidate will combine protein engineering, in vitro biochemical/cell-based assays and in-vivo models to explore how the structural and functional characteristics of T-cell engagers impact immune cell biology in the context of cancer. The results of these studies will help to illuminate the basic biology of T-cell responses and the properties of T-cell engagers associated with effective anti-tumor activity. The fellow will be encouraged to design an independent research program, publish their work in top tier journals and present at scientific conferences. The selected candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment at Gilead through a 2-year term, with an option to extend an additional third year, with an emphasis on high impact publications. It provides access to world class research facilities and the opportunity to leverage expertise and resources across multiple functional areas at Gilead Sciences Inc.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in structural biology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology or related field, a record of independent high impact research as evidenced by publications and experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Discovery/design/engineering of novel antibodies or binding domain
  • Expression, purification and analysis of recombinant proteins
  • Study of protein-protein interactions using quantitative methods
  • In-vitro and/or in-vivo study of immune cell biology
