We are looking for a colleague who is driven by scientific curiosity and looking to uplevel their career in the research areas of neuroscience > astrocyte biology > electrophysiology > traumatic brain injury. You don’t have to know it all, your expertise in one of these fields is preferred.

First of all, we love to work as a team! While everyone is in charge of leading projects, we usually work on them together. We discovered a new response of astrocytes to a specific type of brain injury. We are excited about it, the field is excited about it… Now it’s all about figuring out mechanisms that connect the root (blood-brain barrier damage) to long-term consequences (epilepsy and neurodegeneration). There are several exciting research directions that we need your help with.
We’re excellent astrocyte biologists and experts in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). We do imaging (confocal, intravital 2-photon, standard), histology, mouse genetics, TBI models, EEG recording, molecular biology. We would love for your expertise (we’re pretty open) to complement ours. You are open to learning and establishing new techniques that help us answer our questions.

Successful candidate is expected to:
- Contribute to team science within our lab and with collaborators.
- Adhere to our team-specific processes and workflows and help to continuously optimize how we operate.
- Draft and publish findings as first- and/or co-author.
- Present findings at departmental, national, and international meetings.
- Demonstrate a desire to develop grantsmanship skills for preparing competitive funding proposals.
- Contribute to training and supervision of undergraduate students and technicians in the lab.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Fluid in electrophysiology (You can build a rig using new and used components for whole cell patch clamp recordings in acute brain slices. You can design and perform whole cell patch clamp experiments and are excited about applying your skills to our problems. You are happy to train other team members in electrophysiology), confocal imaging, intravital 2-photon imaging, and TBI models. The candidate should be comfortable working with mouse models and willing to learn bioinformatics.
A Ph.D. degree in biomedical-related sciences is required. Candidates with a strong background in electrophysiology and/or bioinformatics are strongly encouraged to apply.
