Applications are invited for a Permanent post of a Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Electrical Power Systems Analysis and Operation within School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering
The School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering (SEEE) in University College Dublin has a long and distinguished record of contribution and achievement in education and research. The School has an international track record of research achievement across major fields within the discipline, including electrical power systems, communications and integrated circuits, optimisation and control and biomedical engineering (please see our School website at http://www.ucd.ie/eleceng). Its full-time academic staff includes five IEEE Fellows.
The School is committed to the highest standards of undergraduate teaching, learning and student development within a research-informed environment.
The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University College Dublin, Dublin, Ireland, now wishes to make a permanent academic appointment in Electrical Engineering in the area of electrical power systems analysis and operation. The person appointed will have a strong record of research and accomplishment in fundamental scientific areas underpinning power system design, analysis, operation and control, and will complement and support existing expertise relating to the integration of high levels of renewables, smart grid applications and control of distributed energy resources.
It is expected that the appointee will have the qualifications and experience to deliver high quality research-informed teaching and learning up to Masters level, contributing to Bachelor and Master degrees in Electrical Engineering, particularly relating to power system analysis, modelling, operation and control, optimisation and data analytics, in the context of sustainable power systems. It is expected that the successful candidate will maintain an active personal research programme, publishing in leading international journals and conferences, and pursuing opportunities for research funding while participating fully in the programmes and academic activities of the School, College and University.
The person appointed will be located within the School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and will be expected to develop into a leading figure within the international power systems research community, building up and sustaining a leading internationally important research team, and interacting with other disciplinary areas within the university. The applicant will also have the opportunity to participate in the UCD Energy Institute.
Launched in 2013, the UCD Energy Institute (https://energyinstitute.ucd.ie/) engages in academic-industrial collaboration to execute a dynamic programme of research initiatives that promote enhanced energy performance as sustainably, reliably, and affordably as possible. The Energy Institute incorporates the Integrated Energy Laboratory (IE Lab), which tests new energy management technologies likely to be deployed in houses and small communities. Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a research statement, a teaching statement, five recent publications, and complete contact information for at least three references.

Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines.
