Position Description
The College of Science and Engineering seeks to develop a pool of candidates for postdoctoral scholars (post-doc) positions in Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry Computer Science, Ingram School of Engineering, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, and Physics. A post-doc is a professional appointment designed to provide recent doctoral degree recipients with an opportunity to gain experiences and skills that will advance their careers. A post-doc works under the supervision and sponsorship of a regular faculty member, who serves as a mentor to the post-doc, and it is expected that the faculty sponsor will provide an orientation and development plan for the post-doc, impart the realities and variety of careers available to the post-doc, and encourage learning opportunities to broaden the post-doc’s aspirations and experiences.
The appointment involves substantial and full-time commitment to research, scholarship, teaching, or other professional activities. Eligibility for annual reappointment is contingent upon satisfactory annual performance evaluations during the term period, in addition to continuity of funding and departmental/school need.
This posting is for August 2022 – July 2023 hires. Please note that this posting is not intended to convey that such a need currently exists. Applicants applying for a pool faculty position will be available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case the need arises.

Required Qualifications
Recently awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., D.Sc.., M.D.).

Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience is preferred.
