The International Mission Board, a nonprofit religious organization in Richmond, VA, is hiring for a Young Adult TCK Advocate!

Rate: Salary commensurate with experience + great benefits!
Location: Remote
Hours: Full Time
To prepare and support TCKs (Third Culture Kids) towards independent, post high school transition from the field.
Responsibilities:
Serve as primary connection with college-age TCKs and create networks for TCKs to support each other and to be supported by Southern Baptist (SB) churches by:
  • Connecting the TCKs with support in their community, including SB churches.
  • Establishing a system for connecting with TCKs each semester and being available should TCKs reach out for assistance or support.
  • Creating and maintaining a TCK contact list for use in communications such as inviting them to IMB events.
  • Joining, or creating social media platforms where TCKs gather and share experiences.
  • Working with the Training Department to participate in annual Reentry Retreats. .
  • Encouraging TCKs to consider serving on the field, with college mission trips, as field personnel, post college, and to participate in advocating for the organization’s mission to churches. Connect them with other company departments, such as Assessment & Deployment, Mobilization and Alumni programs, as appropriate.
Administer programs and create resources that will assist TCKs prepare to transition from the field, by:
  • Leading programs for 11th and/or 12th graders to help TCKS begin their transition, in collaboration with TCK Education Consultants.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with colleges to advocate for missionaries and TCKs. This would include maintaining and communicating up-to-date information on financial resources available to TCKs from these colleges, including grants and scholarships.
  • Developing and maintaining updated resources such as a Scholarship/Funding Resource Guide, a year-by-year checklist for preparing for college, and other such materials to be shared with families.
  • Researching and promoting current college, technical school and gap year opportunities and information.
  • Communicating changes related to organizational financial aid, partnering with HR, Marketing and Communications, Mobilization, and SBC churches to help with this.
  • Researching, developing, and providing resources about transitioning well from the field, and preparing for what is next (college, tech school, job, etc.)

Introduce TCKS to designated Member Care teams to create counseling relationships as needed and work with Member Care to find local counseling as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferred, in Education or Counseling
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in similar position, interacting with colleges and parents to develop resources to navigate post-secondary education.
  • Strong existing network of SBC college & SBC church contacts where you have promoted programs for TCKs
  • Prior IMB TCK experience and current SBC experience
  • Intermediate technical skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams & Social Media
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills with experience presenting to groups
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong administration skills, to set up & maintain initial program
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, periodically. International trips anticipated at no more than 5 per year.
