About the Opportunity
Summary & Responsibilities:
The Zhao Lab in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Northeastern University is an interdisciplinary group working at the interface with computational chemistry, catalysis, sustainable energy, and machine learning. We are seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral research associate to support research focused on the broad areas of computational catalyst and material design for sustainable energy applications on Northeastern’s Boston Campus. The anticipated start date will be September 2022. This position is annually renewable. Potential research projects include: (1) Mechanistic analysis in heterogeneous catalysis using density functional theory and embedded correlated wavefunction theory, (2) Computational design of single atom catalysts for sustainable energy applications, (3) Machine learning for high-throughput catalyst and material design.
Qualifications:
The candidate must have a Ph.D. with thesis focusing on computational chemistry, heterogeneous catalysis, electronic structure methods, or other closely related fields. This position requires excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and scientific, oral and written. Preferred qualifications include experience in using VASP, Molpro, TeraChem, experience in developing machine learning methods, and strong programming skills.
