Job Description

This position makes significant contributions to the development of the MOLLER experiment at Jefferson Lab and assists in managing various research projects and students in an experimental nuclear physics laboratory. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop the Shower-max detector system for MOLLER (design, fabrication, simulation, testing, installation, and commissioning)
  • Perform detailed PMT non-linearity characterizations for MOLLER integrating detectors
  • Perform radiation hardness measurements on detector components and electronics at the Idaho Accelerator Center
  • Develop integrating detector logistics for MOLLER: patch panels, cabling harness, and gas system designs and prototypes

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in experimental nuclear or particle physics or a closely related field by the starting date
  • Expertise in an area relevant to the group’s research program, which include experimental hardware, data acquisition, analysis and simulations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in any of the following areas is an advantage: software and hardware development in accelerator-based experiments, C++, root, GEANT4 and related CERN library tools
  • Familiarity with the JLab CODA data acquisition system
