Director of Marketing and Public Relations


Bargaining Unit/Salary Range: MEA Administrators unit; Level IV: Starting Full-Time Salary $49,046.99

Responsibilities: The Director of Marketing and Public Relations provides leadership surrounding all aspects of Marketing and Public Relations for the College. This includes responsibility for defining the optimal brand positioning, marketing strategy, and enrollment marketing campaigns to raise visibility and promote EMCC to its various stakeholders. In all work, the Director will strive to be consistent with the strategic goals, priorities and aspirations of the college; working closely with multiple departments and leadership teams, remembering that the goal is the recruitment and support of our learners. While the ideal candidate should have the ability to be highly independent, make judgments and build key relationships, they will also be part of a larger leadership team.


The Marketing and Public Relations Director requires excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal and both strong written and oral communication skills demonstrated through work experience.

  • Supervise all media and social platforms of the College and is responsible for developing, executing, and measuring effective implementation.
  • Work closely with appropriate stakeholders to create and implement effective outreach and recruitment campaigns to
  • drive demand and support the successful recruitment of learners and the ongoing engagement of community members,
  • driving general college enrollment and promoting targeted programs and services.
  • Oversee website content, design and user experience, ensuring alignment with the strategic plan and other aligned plans,
  • including SEO, and interconnectivity with google.
  • Directs and creates work related to content and creative advertising, video and photography, publications, websites, social
  • media and paid media and college events. This includes knowledge and experience with photography and cinematography
  • content creation.

Minimum Qualifications:

BA in communications and/or Marketing or a related field as well as three years’ experience in marketing
communications and event planning required. Experience with PHP, HTML, and CSS web programming essential.

Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language. Technology and software knowledge and experience with the following:

WordPress and other CMS; Android and iOS; macOS & Windows operating systems; Adobe Software Suite, including InDesign and Photoshop and Google webmaster tools including Google Analytics, reCAPTCHA.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work with a diverse, statewide donor base and volunteers;
  • solid and creative communication techniques that are effective and timely both orally and in writing;
  • ability to organize and implement successful events;
  • success in team building and participatory leadership;
  • knowledge of contract procedures, accounting and databases;
  • basic knowledge and experience with phpMyAdmin, Google Apps, Google+ and Google MyBusiness.
