The School of Biomedical Engineering & Imaging Sciences (BMEIS) is seeking an exceptional academic to lead its Department of Imaging Chemistry & Biology (ICAB). The post holder will provide academic leadership to the department, continue to propel the research innovation and develop the department’s strategy in line with the School and King’s wider strategy.

This role will be uniquely placed to take a national leadership role in nuclear medicine research. They will lead the profile of nuclear medicine research, for both global impact and local community benefit, which has been on an upward trajectory in the School.

Embedded within the School, King’s and GSTT have invested c£40m to create the UK’s largest and most comprehensive PET radiochemistry facility, the Positron Emitting Radiopharmaceutical Laboratory (PERL) for GMP production of PET radiotracers.

This strategic appointment will lead the development of the next steps of the King’s nuclear medicine field, integrating the ICAB activity with the PET Centre and GSTT’s Nuclear Medicine Department. They will lead and effectively partner with senior leaders of other departments to maximise impact and accrue major interdisciplinary programmes and centre-scale grants.

The post-holder will be responsible for academic and strategic leadership and will support the Head of School in ensuring the Department, School, University and its GSTT collaborators executes excellence across all its activities.
