Job Description
Postdoc Associate (Interactive Media and Games)
As part of the university's comprehensive vaccination program, all Cornell employees are required to have and provide proof of an FDA-or WHO-authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine or have obtained a university-approved disability/medical or religious exemption, regardless of their role and work location.
New hires are required to provide documentation showing full vaccination status (that is, completion of two shots of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or one shot of the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson) before their first day of work. If a new hire's vaccination is not complete or information is not received by their start date, the first day of work will be delayed. It is possible in some cases that an offer of employment may be withdrawn.

Cornell University’s Critical Inquiry into Values, Imagination, and Culture initiative (https://provost.cornell.edu/academic-initiatives/radical-collaboration/civic/) invites applications for a two-year Post-MFA or Postdoctoral Associate in Interactive Media and Digital Games. The appointment will be for a period of two years, beginning August 16, 2022. We seek a dynamic practitioner and thinker who can relate the historical and emerging issues of game design and interactive media to a liberal arts curriculum while supporting radically interdisciplinary forms of inquiry. The position is open to any area of game design, development, and critical practice; we are particularly interested in candidates with innovative approaches to audio, haptics, and/or other sensory modalities, especially as they intersect with issues of indigeneity, race, gender, sexuality, and disability. In addition to developing their own research and practice by participating in the academic life of the CIVIC initiative, the successful candidate will convene weekly meetings and collaborate with Cornell faculty members Jodi Byrd, Andrew Campana, Julia Chang, María Fernández, Roger Moseley, and Walker White, the CIVIC research fellows in Interactive Media and Games. The Post-MFA or Postdoctoral Associate will deliver at least one public presentation of their research each year and will also teach two courses per year, which could include foundational as well as intermediate and advanced classes, to be determined in consultation with the CIVIC research fellows and relevant department chairs. The Associate will also be invited to join the Cornell Media Studies collective, which runs a series of colloquia and fosters ways for faculty members from across the university to share materials and ideas (see https://mediastudies.as.cornell.edu for further details).
