This Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Coordinator is primarily responsible for identifying and implementing strategies and initiatives focused on ensuring
services provided by FBH are known, available and adapted to diverse populations served by FBH. The DEI Coordinator is responsible for ensuring Regional Crisis Line (RCL)/, National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) and 988 staff receive training and coaching to provide culturally affirming crisis response services for diverse individuals across the county, region, and state. The DEI Coordinator networks with various community organizations to improve awareness of RCL and NSPL resources among diverse population groups.
In addition to focused work pertaining to the RCL and NSPL, the DEI Coordinator will have an integral role in organization wide DEI initiatives through involvement in FBH’s DEI Committee and various employee training platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Network and coordinate with external diversity coordinators, cultural resource organizations, and other DEI stakeholders.
  • Provide outreach, coordination, and act as the agency liaison with various diversity and inclusion related groups and local black, indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) in the community to develop strong relationships and respond to diversity- and equity-related issues related to the organization and the provision of services as they arise.
  • Assess equity within the NSPL training. Train and coach RCL/NSPL/988 staff to provide culturally affirming crisis response services for all communities based on many factors including geographical location, gender identity, sexual identity, race, ethnicity, and national origin among other identities.
  • Participate in training provided by the Washington Indian Behavioral Health Hub for NSPL call center staff and all other training recommended/approved by FBH.
  • Identify opportunities to expand awareness of FBH crisis services to diverse populations.
  • Support and develop FBH staff in matters related to DEI and diversity and equity related groups or BIPOC in the community and region.
  • Develop workshops and trainings focused on effectively working with all individuals, including clients, their families or support system while incorporating opportunities for professional growth related to the role of social and cultural factors.
  • Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives related to health disparities, including a review of treatment outcomes specific to identified populations.
  • Plan, develop, and market diversity and inclusion-focused education, programs, trainings, and events.
  • Pursue professional development opportunities, attend conferences, and professional meetings to remain current on DEI issues and represent FBH at local and regional related meetings or events.
  • Develop reports, track and analyze metrics and data that inform of stakeholders of initiative impacts.
  • Serve on the agency’s DEI committee.
  • As a member of FBH’s DEI committee, participate in the implementation of DEI initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or other human or social services field.
  • 3 years’ experience working with diverse populations in a clinical capacity.
  • One year of experience conducting staff training in group and/or 1:1 format.
PREFERRED:
  • Diversity, equity, and inclusion certification.
  • Experience working in a DEI position and implementing DEI related strategy, practices and/or training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Must have reliable transportation, insurance and an active drivers’ license and be willing to use personal vehicle in the course of work.
  • Understanding of own personal cultural background and values.
  • Commitment and appreciation for diversity and strong interest in contributing to organizational cultural awareness, competency and cultivating an environment that embraces DEI.
  • Ability to identify, navigate, and address challenges associated with DEI.
  • Demonstrated intercultural competency skills and experience working cross-culturally.
  • Knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
  • Ability to motivate, collaborate and negotiate with diverse individuals and groups.
  • Established connections to diverse community groups and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative, resilient, flexible, diplomatic, confident, patient, resourceful, and possessed of a professional presence.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize a multitude of tasks.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in technology including Power Point, Prezi, and/or other presentation software and interactive platforms.
  • Fluent in more than one language preferred but not required.
