Position Description
Advertised Job Summary
The Department of Mechanical Engineering within the College of Engineering and Computing seeks to fill Post-Doctoral Fellow position. This position will provide performance of modeling calculations for materials systems of interest for high temperature materials including, but not limited to nuclear fuels and wastes, to develop thermochemical representations. Additionally, the research will be supported by experimental efforts on thermochemical and thermophysical measurements, such as TGA/DSC, XRD, and microanalysis and the ability to learn and use these instruments is desirable.
Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
PhD by start date of employment, ABD may apply, in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or closely related science or engineering discipline related to thermodynamic experiment and modeling.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise with performing thermochemical assessments and thermal property measurements.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Expertise in determining thermochemical properties of materials using experiments and CALPHAD modeling. Familiarity thermochemical equilibrium software.
