Summary
Candidate must have a PhD degree in organic chemistry or related field and has capability to carry out the synthesis of organic compounds, be familiar with multiple-step organic synthesis and analytical methods as well as understanding materials properties. The main job duties are to carry out research on the synthesis and characterizations of organic compounds including molecules containing photo-responsive functions and sugar-based systems, synthetic method development and catalyst design and studies. Other responsibilities include the training undergraduate and graduate students, writing manuscripts and reports in timely manner, and collaborations with other lab members are also expected. Experience: None beyond PhD.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Research on the synthesis and characterizations of organic compounds including molecules containing photo-responsive functions and other functional groups
2. Analytical techniques, reaction monitoring performed using LCMS, NMR analysis
3. Synthetic method development and studies, preparation of target compounds with satisfactory purity
4. Presentation of project results to internal and external parties.
5. Training undergraduate and graduate students on research projects
6. Other duties as assigned
