The Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) is an educational 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in San Rafael, California. AIM serves 370+ farmers, food purveyors, and artisans from 40 California counties who participate in AIM's nine Certified Farmers Markets in the cities of Hayward, Newark, Oakland, Point Reyes, San Rafael, and San Francisco. AIM also provides hands-on and virtual education programs to thousands of children and adults, operates a farm audit program, runs a mobile market for older adults and underserved communities, curates a multi-farm produce box program, and operates CalFresh/EBT and Market Match services to create a healthier, equitable food system across the San Francisco Bay Area.

Description

AIM seeks a dynamic, self-starter to assist the organization in completing its first ever capital campaign. AIM is on track to raise $16M by September 2024 to build the Center for Food and Agriculture (CFA), a zero waste farmers market and educational space where all people can connect and experience the benefits of real foods from healthy soils, pastures, and seas. The Capital Campaign Associate will serve as a coordinator, supporting the CEO and Development Manager in communicating with the Capital Campaign Advisory Committee, Board members, and volunteers, while tracking data in relation to the campaign. The Associate will also conduct research on prospective funders, support stewardship plans, and help with event logistics. This position is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of fundraising while working for a local, well-known community based non-profit organization.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with capital campaign stakeholders (Board members, Capital Campaign Advisory Committee, and prospects) on upcoming events and campaign milestones.
  • Work closely with the CEO and Development Manager to coordinate various aspects of the campaign, including events, marketing, and donor relations.
  • Conduct and organize research on Capital Campaign donor prospects (institutional and individual funders).
  • Help organize and attend CFA related fundraising events (communicate with attendees, manage RSVPs, support host committees, and confirm guest lists).
  • Assist the CEO and Development Manager in developing individualized stewardship plans for prospects and scheduling meetings and farmers market tours.
  • Enter donor data and assist with tracking and reporting, using our donor database Bloomerang).
  • Participate in Capital Campaign committee meetings, record meeting minutes, and coordinate action steps.
  • Coordinate community crowdfunding activities at farmers markets and related venues.


Qualifications and Skills

  • College degree and 2+ years of comparable work experience in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Excellent writing skills and ability to professionally communicate with diverse audiences via email and phone.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and ensure follow-through on all tasks & project.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills with internal and external audiences.
  • Experience with entering information into a donor database, a plus.
  • Experience with Bay Area philanthropic institutions, a plus.

Start Date: Position open until filled, requires minimum 1 year commitment

Hours: 20 hours/week

Compensation: $30/hour
