Mentor: Dr. Manuel Rosa-Garrido, Department of Biomedical Engineering
The Rosa-Garrido Lab is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist who can work independently while closely collaborating with the Principal Investigator and other scientists in the Department. Our group uses cutting-edge high-throughput genomic technologies, such as ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, Hi-C, and SPRITE, to develop novel therapies for the treatment and prevention of cardiac disease based on the modification of chromatin structure. The lab works with mouse models, “in vitro” cell culture, including cell lines and primary cells, and human cardiac tissue. The selected candidate will benefit from complete support to: 1) learn complex chromatin conformation techniques, including bioinformatics data analysis, 2) compete for external funding (NIH and AHA), and 3) publish in peer-reviewed journals as first or co-author.
The successful candidate can expect to:
- Draft and publish findings as first- and/or co-author.
- Present findings at departmental and national meetings.
- Demonstrate a desire to develop grantsmanship skills for preparing competitive funding proposals.
- Form part of multidisciplinary research collaborations.
- Contribute to training and supervision of undergraduate students and technicians in the lab.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferences:
Familiar with techniques such as Western Blot, qRT-PCR, Immunofluorescence, and Chromatin Immunoprecipitation. Experience in sequencing library preparation and data analysis is preferred but is not required. The candidate should be comfortable working with mouse models and willing to learn bioinformatics.
Requirements:
A Ph.D. degree in biomedical-related sciences is required. Candidates with a strong background in epigenetics, molecular biology, and/or bioinformatics are strongly encouraged to apply.
