POSITION SUMMARY:

The YMCA of Central Kentucky’s part-time Program Assistant in Jessamine County coordinates and manages programming and staff for the Y’s Caroline Memorial Center. The Program Assistant oversees daily operation, in accordance with state and Y standards, and is responsible for successful programming for children, teens, and families, working in collaboration with Y staff, Jessamine County Schools, and the larger community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Achieve the Association’s goals of providing programs that foster an environment for participants to learn, grow and thrive, while operating within the program budget parameters.

2. Provide “hands-on” leadership to ensure the health, safety, and well-being for all program participants.

3. Ensure compliance of Y regulations, including building operation, policies, procedures, and program requirements.

4. Develop collaborative relationships and visibility to ensure the YMCA maintains a high degree of acceptance and credibility within the service delivery area.

5. Collaborate to determine effective programming, building access, and staff/program needs.

6. Develop and maintain partnerships with participants, families, school leadership and community contacts to enhance the services and programs offered.

7. Participate as an effective member of the YMCA team, providing representation in Jessamine County activities and special events.

8. Model the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and provides/maintains an environment in which these values are evident to staff, members and program participants through all levels of the association

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience in related field or supervising youth programs and operations, two years’ experience or bachelor’s degree preferred.

2. Demonstrated skills in customer service, public relations, volunteer development, communications, supervision, computer knowledge, and data maintenance.

3. Extensive knowledge and experience of youth programs including design and development, successful implementation, ongoing management, and continuous growth. Previous child development, childcare and camp experience is preferred.

4. Strong organizational and leadership skills; some experience in fiscal and financial development, community relations and team building.

5. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

6. Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
