Job Description
The department of Computing and Cyber Security in Texas A&M, San Antonio has an open position for a Post-doctoral Research Associate. The position focuses on various aspects of high-performance computing (HPC) and its application to the computing, business and science fields. Candidate is expected to engage in the design and testing of efficient computational algorithms and adaptive scheduling policies for scientific computing on GPUs, cloud computing, and also help in HPC training and workshops.

This is a grant-funded position. Grant funded positions are time-limited and are contingent upon sufficient grant funding.
Responsibilities:
This position will be supporting and conducting research projects in the field of high-performance computer architectures, with focus on data analytics, cyber security, and high-performance computing. Duties involve literature review, software development, conducting experiments and optimization, data check and analysis, and prepare for training and workshops in HPC.

The Post-doctoral Research Associate position will provide preliminary results and write discussion of concepts for submission to granting agencies and foundation and also assist in the preparation of manuscripts to publish research results in peer-reviewed technical journals and conference proceedings.

Required Education and Experience:
  • A PhD in computer science, computational sciences, or mathematics is preferred. Knowledge required includes machine learning and statistical methods, proficiency in programming with C, C++, and Python, familiarity with Cloud systems and permanence measurements.
  • Background in at least one of the following areas is preferred: high performance computing, cyber security, cloud computing, machine learning, or data analytics.
  • The successful candidate will possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time appropriately. The candidate will work both independently and as part of a team and should be a self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and activities, while conducting individual research and disseminating results.
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively with faculty, research assistants / associates, administrative assistants, students and other personnel.
