Job Description
Position Purpose
The Coordinator of LGBTQ Services and the Resource & Support Center will have a variety of responsibilities including the coordination of two student support centers and the related programming and services. The position will direct programming and resources in support of LGBTQ students and in the development and facilitation of LGBTQ trainings and awareness for the campus community. This position will also support students who face financial and other basic needs struggles such as housing, transportation, parenting, legal issues, and healthcare. The position will support, intervene, and connect students to resources on the campus and in the community.

Position Responsibilities
  • Direct campus-wide LGBTQ activities, programming, resources, and support.
  • Connect students to resources on campus and in the community that assist with basic needs including housing, health insurance, financial assistance, employment, legal issues, childcare.
  • Manage the operation of the Resource and Support Center which includes but is not limited to:
    • Hire, train, and supervise student employees who provide the day-to-day operations of the Resource and Support Center.
    • Oversee the management of the food pantry including inventory, food donations and partnerships, food purchases, pick-up, and distribution.
    • Coordinate and promote monthly food mobile markets.
    • Develop community partnerships for donations, referrals, consultation, workshops on campus.
    • Convene and facilitate a Resource and Support Center advisory group to provide feedback and guidance to the mission, vision, and operations of the center and review with the Student Senate.
    • Oversee data collection and assessment of the services in the Resource and Support Center. Develop an assessment plan for measuring the impact of these services on student success and completion.
  • Manage the LGBTQ Center for students including program goals, work plans, budget, and campus and community resources.
  • Serve as a Campus Advocate for students related to Title IX and harassment/discrimination processes.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications ( expected to have to enter job)
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge of college programs to develop and integrate appropriate and supportive programs, advise, resources and activities.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of LGBTQ student needs and topics in the higher education setting.
  • Ability to direct, organize, and provide leadership of multiple assignments including using, evaluating, and maintaining data and reports.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal communication and presentation skills sufficient to motivate cooperation among the college and community-based organizations as well as the ability to develop and present training and workshops.
  • Knowledge in and ability to use computer software, including, but not limited to, collecting, and interpreting data for reporting and program improvement.
  • Driving is an integral part of responsibilities – Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience working with at-risk populations and referring to community services and resources.
  • Two-years work experience serving LGBTQ students or clients.
  • Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to serving a culturally and linguistically diverse college community.
  • One-year work experience working in college student services including event planning and the development of supportive programs.
