Location: Majority Remote

MassBay Community College seeks an innovative and entrepreneurial Assistant Dean for Institutional Effectiveness to lead the College in college-wide planning, goal-setting, assessment, institutionalizing data-driven decision-making, and reporting. The chosen candidate will oversee the Office of Institutional Effectiveness. S/he will be a member of the President’s Cabinet and will work closely with the Provost in supporting program review and the assessment of student learning. The Assistant Dean for Institutional Effectiveness will also work closely with other members of the Executive Team to report and predict enrollment and to conduct research to support student success. The Assistant Dean will serve as Chair of the College's Institutional Review Board and will supervise the Director of Data Administration, the Assistant Director for Institutional Research, and a Research/Staff Assistant.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Prepare reports demonstrating the College's performance on key outcomes;
  • Design and lead the institutional assessment process to support the achievement of strategic goals;
  • Provide consistency and accountability regarding the ongoing evaluation and usage of data, including considerations for sharing both internally and externally;
  • Develop a common definition of and language for assessment activities that will occur at the programmatic and departmental levels;
  • Plan and conduct workshops, development programs and resources that will assist staff on improving assessment practices;
  • Oversee the preparation and dissemination of the daily enrollment report, the annual Factbook, the Institutional Dashboard, and other regular institutional data;
  • Supervise staff as they prepare and submit reports to state, reginal, and federal authorities such as the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, the Integrated Postsecondary Educational Data System (IPEDS), and the College’s accreditor, the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE);
  • Chair the College’s Institutional Review Board;
  • Serve on and/or chair College-wide committees related to compliance, student success, and enrollment management;
  • Represent College in Massachusetts Department of Higher Education working groups and committees;
  • Supervise staff in the office;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social or physical sciences, economics, statistics, or related field is required, Doctoral degree preferred (a leadership role in an Institutional Research or Effectiveness office may be substituted for an advanced degree);
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Institutional Research or Effectiveness;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a supervisory role in higher education, including the demonstrated ability to recruit, develop, and retain a team of technical and analytical professionals;
  • Experience designing and evaluating research and grants activities;
  • Experience with the latest version of the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Experience with Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server;
  • Significant experience with statistical software (e.g. SPSS, SAS, STATA, MATLAB);
  • Significant experience with mining large, complex student information and administrative computing systems;
  • Knowledge of higher education assessment methods;
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to advance a workplace that is welcoming to all;
  • Detail oriented.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action and workforce diversity;
  • Experience working in a diverse environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with underserved students;
  • Experience at a community college;
  • Experience writing queries to extract data from databases.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $95,000.00 - 105,000.00 Annual Salary

Position Type: Non Unit Professional
