Job Description
The Human Resources Assistant will perform administrative duties related to the operations of the human resource office. This is a confidential position that is responsible for processing information of a personal nature and while supporting the Director of Human Resources and the Human Resources department. Work is performed under a minimum of supervision and requires incumbents to exercise independent judgment and discretion. The person filling this position will be responsible for projecting positive College image as they will be the initial contact with potential employees and external vendors.
Required Qualifications
This position requires an Associate’s degree in Office Technology, Human Resources or related field and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, plus three years of administrative support experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
This position requires strong interpersonal, excellent communication, problem solving, and project management skills. Conflict resolution and mediation skills and experience are required. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are necessary. Ability to maintain confidential information is necessary. Ability to operate general office equipment. Computer skills are required, and familiarity with HR database systems is preferred. The incumbent must be able to work effectively as a team member and contributor. The position requires the maintenance of confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in human resources office/setting preferred. Knowledge of fair employment laws is preferred.
Physical Demands
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Receive, process, and provide visual and verbal information.
  • Provide timely response to externally imposed conditions and deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Respond to concurrent, multiple, non-related issues.
  • Work effectively in stressful situations.
  • Occasional irregular hours and travel.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Salary : Pay Grade N-8, Minimum Salary $17.07/hour
