The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is a state wide campus, with faculty based on University campuses, at Research and Extension Centers and in every Arkansas county. It consists of the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) and the Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service (CES), and is home to more than 1400 employees. The Division was established in 1959 and is headed by the Vice-President for Agriculture. Summary of Job Duties:
- Conduct simulations studies to optimize genomic prediction and GWAS models;
- Develop new molecular breeding methods;
- Develop R packages and Shiny Apps;
- Publication of scholarly works;
- Occasional statistical consulting, designing and analyzing experiments, and grant writing;
- PhD. in Plant Breeding, Quantitative Genetics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or related field.
- Proficiency in R or other programming languages (e.g., Python).
- Successful applicants should be highly motivated and creative.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to publish original research in peer-reviewed journals.
- Previous experience using genomic data for mapping and/or prediction.
