Description: The Board of Directors of the Nebraska Cancer Specialists (NCS) HOPE Foundation (the “Foundation”) invites nominations and applications for the organization’s inaugural Executive Director.

With a mission to improve the lives of cancer patients, their families, and the community, the Foundation envisions a community where every cancer patient gets the services they need to thrive. The Foundation accomplishes this critical task by providing supporting services and resources, largely through financial assistance, to all oncology and hematology patients, families and caregivers. In this new key leadership role as Executive Director, you will be responsible for creating, leading, and implementing all strategic goals and objectives of the organization. This includes managing initiatives in constituent recruitment (board, team, volunteers, investors), fundraising/development, PR, and community relations, as well as overseeing daily operations of the organization. This position reports to the Board President.

Role and Key Responsibilities:
Looking to 2026, the Foundation’s strategic plan aims to grow the organization’s capacity to support people fighting cancer and those around them as they face the challenges of their journey, and the Executive Director’s role will be to bring this strategy into action through:

  • Strengthening the Foundation’s financial position through revenue growth and diversification.
  • Expanding and solidifying philanthropic and programmatic relationships.
  • Building operational capacity and implementing nonprofit sector best practices to ensure sustainability, including transforming the board from a volunteer working board to a governing board.
  • Bringing wider community awareness and engagement to the Foundation’s mission and impact.
  • Overseeing the daily operations and be the public face of the organization.
  • Represent the Foundation and its programs with government agencies, private funding sources, and in the community.
  • The Executive Director’s main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to provide governance and fiduciary responsibilities to all areas of the Foundation.
  • Execute on the strategic plan as approved by the board.
  • Serve as the lead fundraiser of the Foundation by managing and meeting fundraising priorities that coincide with the strategic plan as approved by the Board. This includes acting as a fundraiser/strategist/advisor for the board and potential committees, planning fundraising events and annual appeals, cultivating and soliciting major and planned gifts, and evaluate the future of a grants program.
  • Provide strategic direction in creating and administering the budget as approved by the board.
  • Provide all operational support for Foundation activities, including but not limited to compliance, communication and marketing operations, quality assurance and program efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Passionate for serving those affected by cancer.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 8 to 10 years of senior nonprofit management experience.
  • Master’s Degree and experience with the client population is preferred.
  • Resident or familiar with the greater Omaha metropolitan area
  • Some travel required

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Employee will also enjoy a benefits package that includes individual health, vision and dental insurance, a 401k with a 6% match, 25 days of paid-vacation, and paid holidays.
