Chief Executive Officer

Habitat for Humanity of Wake County is seeking its next Chief Executive Officer to lead a complex, multi-functional enterprise serving Wake and Johnston counties in central North Carolina. Habitat Wake is one of the larger Habitat organizations globally and offers home construction and renovation, retail (ReStores in Wake, Durham, Orange, and Johnston counties), home ownership financial support, as well as advocacy for affordable housing.

The successful candidate will have exemplary leadership skills and significant practical experience motivating and managing a team-oriented, faith-based, mission-driven organization. Habitat Wake is governed by a strong and dedicated Board and has a well-managed, compassionate, and professional staff. The CEO will work alongside the Board and senior leadership team with the goal of empowering staff at all levels within the organization and promoting a welcoming environment to those it serves.

With a staff of nine direct reports, the CEO will oversee a staff of 150+ individuals located at the main office and construction sites in Raleigh and ten ReStores throughout the Triangle. Habitat Wake has total assets of $26 million (excluding notes and loans receivable), with annual operating expenses in the $25 to $26 million range. Habitat Wake, one of the larger global affiliates, has built a large land bank to support future growth. Of total annual revenues, approximately 33 percent comes from home sales, 30 percent from the ReStores, and 33 percent from contributions and grants. The CEO plays a major role ensuring visibility within the community, fundraising, and developing strategic partnerships. Adding to its success, as many as 14,000 individuals volunteer each year.

Working together with the Board of Directors, the CEO will have overall accountability for the success of the organization with responsibilities for, but not limited to, construction, retail operations, finance, human resources, fund development, and advocacy. The CEO will collaborate with the Board and senior leadership team to review the organizational vision and develop new strategic and operating plans to lead all staff to higher levels of performance. The CEO will further develop and guide the senior leadership team to provide inclusive and effective leadership to a workforce comprised of highly diverse skill sets, functional responsibilities, professional interests, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Hiring range is $190,000 - $250,000 plus benefits
