We are seeking talented individuals who can both work as part of a team to design, implement, test, document, and maintain software applications that provide highly impactful capabilities, and manage the focused efforts of such teams to collaborative, synergistic effect in support of our nation's most technically challenging critical problems.  To succeed, we need talented system domain experts! We are looking for individuals with curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a drive for learning and mentoring!

 

The Analytic Capabilities Group of the Asymmetric Operations Sector is looking for a System Domain Expert to define system requirements, identify integration opportunities across a variety of artificial intelligence (AI) and data science (DS) systems, quickly identify risks and innovate on mitigation strategies.

 

As a System Domain Expert....

 

  • You will primarily collaborate with Laboratory, for-profit contractors, and DoD and IC sponsor teams to address critical sponsor needs survey current academic and industry research for state-of-the-art analytic capabilities, and capture system requirements for AI and DS systems.
  • You will effectively communicate solutions with non-expert audiences, generate impactful ideas to benefit the country, and lead teams of diverse personnel and disciplines to meet mission needs.
  • You will apply knowledge in project management to critical challenges facing our sponsors.
  • You will work both independently and on teams to develop new technical and/or analytic solutions.
  • You will explore promising research and maintain/gain the technical edge required for successful project execution, and develop and share new approaches and methods.

 


Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Hold a Bachelor 's degree in Systems Engineering, Economics, or related technical field plus 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Are a problem solver with ability to interact with all levels of staff and management including senior leadership of government agencies and academic institutions.

  • Have experience in operations, plans, policy, program assesments, analysis, and evaluation
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Are willing and able to travel, up to 50 percent of the time, to sponsor sites and field test locations. Occasional weekend and/or other after-hours work may be required to manage or complete critical project/work-related business needs.
  • Can demonstrate that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. To ensure the safety and well-being of the community, APL has established a policy requiring that all staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. All staff members must provide proof of full vaccination or have an approved medical or religious accommodation by their start date.
  • Hold an active TS/SCI level security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

 

You 'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Hold a Master 's degree and/or PhD in Systems Engineering, Economics, Strategic Studies, or a related technical field, and 10+ yars of relevant experience
  • Have a demonstrated understanding of operational and strategic needs for technical and analytic capabilities
  • Have prior line management experience
  • Have an understanding of DoD Special Operations strategy and sponsors
