The Bethany College Board of Trustees and campus community seek in the College’s twenty-first President a visionary, innovative, and decisive servant leader who has an appetite for and capacity to accomplish the five critical objectives in the new Build for a Lifetime strategic plan. Working in close collaboration with the College’s stakeholders, the President will restore financial, enrollment, academic, and reputational excellence in the context of its rich liberal arts and sciences tradition.

Bethany College, a small college of national distinction, is a highly contemporary institution based in the tradition of the liberal arts. The oldest and most diverse institution of higher education in West Virginia, Bethany College one of the Princeton Review’s “Best Colleges in the Southeast” and a Top Performer for Social Mobility by U.S. News. Located in the northern panhandle of West Virginia in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains, Bethany’s beautiful 1,300-acre campus is 30 minutes from Wheeling and less than an hour from Pittsburgh.

Bethany awards the B.S. and B.A. in more than 24 fields of study and 33 majors, many with options for emphasis, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. Bethany places a particular emphasis on leadership and incorporates pre-professional education in a variety of disciplines. With a total enrollment of approximately 550 and approximately 45 full-time faculty, Bethany has recently developed new academic programs, including a 4+1 MBA Program, M.S. Low Residency Program in Business Cybersecurity Management, and a B.A. in Criminal Justice.

The President of Bethany College is the College’s Chief Executive Officer of the College and reports to the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees considers the College to be at a critical juncture in its history. Following a comprehensive audit of all campus functions in the summer of 2021, the College developed it’s Build for a Lifetime strategic plan. The Board and campus community strongly believe that, with the plan’s clear path forward and transparent and focused presidential leadership, Bethany’s future is bright.
