Full Job Description

Duties:

The CEO is responsible for leading, planning, organizing, managing and controlling a community-based organization dedicated to serving and enriching the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

The CEO is responsible for leadership, development and coordination. Some of the duties are listed below:

· Develops long-term organizational plans to support the successful implementation of strategic priorities and operational objectives;

  • Works with the Board of Directors to establish agency priorities, introduce policy changes and ensure organizational stability;
  • Directs the activities of the organization;
  • Maintains or initiates programs and services which utilize agency funds and the capabilities of UNA and its staff to meet the needs of the individuals that we serve in the best manner possible;
  • Plans, organizes and supervises the work of staff;
  • Develops and maintains policies and procedures;
  • Networks inside and outside the organization to create positive and authentic relationships;
  • Fosters an organizational culture of professionalism, innovation and trust;
  • Assists employees in setting goals in support of organizational objectives and provides feedback and direction;
  • Facilitates the creation of employee succession and professional development plans;
  • Prepares interim and annual budgets to meet the requirements of funders and the board of directors;
  • Screens, hires and supervises staff.

The CEO is directly responsible to the Board of Directors.

Qualifications, Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

· Demonstrates the ability to build a sense of shared purpose and commitment in others;

  • Knowledge of organizational structures, staffing patterns and administrative controls;
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting, budgeting, and business;
  • Engaging, clear and effective communication style;
  • Knowledge of the basic elements of data processing and management information systems theories and methods;
  • Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of others;
  • Remains unsatisfied with the status quo and is driven by a spirit of continuous improvement and growth;
  • Ability to develop and install administrative procedures and to evaluate their efficiency and effectiveness;
  • Uses problem solving skills to address challenges and conveys a spirit of optimism;
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting policies and procedures;
  • Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with the Board of Directors, staff and the general public;
  • Lives a personal standard to act ethically, to safeguard confidential information and adhere to the mission, vision and values;
  • Embraces that we exist to serve others and fosters an environment of high customer service.

Requirements:

Minimum of a BS/BA degree from a four-year accredited college with a major in human services, administration or related field.

Candidate should have demonstrated success in nonprofit leadership positions.
