Job Description

SENIOR CONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR I, Office of Research Administration Services (RAS), to independently manage a complex portfolio of departments, labs, and centers (DLCs), focusing on final proposal review and submission, award acceptance, and post-award modifications.  Will negotiate grants/contracts, resolving any issues with contract terms, administrative regulations, and budgetary matters; serve as a sponsor liaison, mentoring staff on agency requirements and processes and assisting junior staff resolve issues; represent MIT at workshops/seminars and train staff on policies/procedures related to their funding; consult with and advise leadership/faculty/staff on matters related to sponsored programs; and remain current on changes in sponsor requirements and legislation affecting sponsored programs.  This position offers an opportunity to support cutting-edge scientific exploration and educational inroads serving the nation and the world in the 21st century. Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  bachelor’s degree; five years’ research/financial management administration experience; high-level proficiency working with multiple agencies/sponsors; excellent analytical, interpersonal, customer service, and written and verbal communication skills; experience delegating to and training junior staff; attention to detail; experience interpreting and communicating guidelines/rules; knowledge and understanding of federal guidelines and procedures regarding grants/contracts, preferably those of the NIH, NSF, DOD, and NASA; and proficiency with MS Office (including strong Excel skills), databases, and other systems.  Must be able to interact effectively with DLCs, government agencies, and contractors; manage several tasks simultaneously and meet various concurrent deadlines in a high-volume environment; and work independently and as part of a team.  PREFERRED:  experience in an academic or medical setting and Kuali Coeus experience.  Job #21470-8
